## What is SVG to CSS?

SVG to CSS is a tool that converts SVG data into CSS code for `**background-image**`. By embedding SVG as a data URI, you can use small icons or background patterns without loading a separate external file.

As soon as you paste SVG into the tool, it generates the encoded data, shows the resulting CSS, and lets you preview the result. It is especially useful when you want to drop a small decorative SVG directly into your stylesheet and test it quickly.

## How to Use

1. Paste SVG code or load an SVG file.
2. Choose an encoding method.
3. Review the encoded data and generated CSS.
4. If the preview looks correct, copy the CSS and use it in your project.

The tool outputs code in the form of `**background-image: url('data:image/svg+xml,...');**`, so it is ready to use as a CSS background value.

## Encoding Methods

### Full Encode

This method encodes the entire SVG with `**encodeURIComponent**`. It is usually the safer option when you want more stable character handling or broader compatibility.

If you are going to paste the result into different environments and want the most predictable output first, this is the easier option to start with.

### Partial Encode

This method replaces only the characters that commonly cause issues in CSS, keeping the output a bit shorter. It works well when you mainly target modern browsers and want more compact code.

That said, depending on how the SVG is written, full encoding may still be easier to work with. If you are unsure, it is worth trying both and comparing the result.

## When This Tool Is Useful

- Embedding small icons or decorative patterns directly in CSS
- Keeping simple background SVGs inside the stylesheet instead of separate files
- Generating `**background-image**` code quickly while checking the visual result
- Comparing the output differences between encoding methods

## Things to Check Before Using the Output

- This tool generates code specifically for `**background-image**`, so it is different from using inline SVG directly in HTML
- The more complex the SVG, the longer the generated code becomes, so this approach works best with small icons or simple shapes
- How easy it is to adjust color or size later depends on how the original SVG is written

For small background patterns or decorative accents, it is often easiest to try this format first and then decide whether you still need a separate SVG file.
