What is QR Code Reader?
QR Code Reader is a browser-based tool for reading QR codes from a camera or an image file. It can show URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi settings, and other decoded content directly in the result field without requiring an app install.
It works well when you want to scan a QR code with your phone or computer camera, or when you only need to inspect the contents of a screenshot or shared QR code image. Image processing stays in the browser.
How to Use QR Code Reader
You can read QR codes in two ways:
- Scan with a camera
- Upload an image file
Scan with a Camera
- Allow camera access in the browser.
- Choose the camera you want to use.
- Start the camera and place the QR code inside the preview area.
- When the code is read successfully, the result is shown and the camera stops.
If your device has more than one camera, you can switch between them.
Read from an Image File
- Upload an image that contains a QR code.
- Check the preview and wait while the image is analyzed automatically.
- The decoded result appears in the result field.
This is helpful when you want to inspect the content of a QR code from a screenshot or shared image.
When to Use Each Method
- Use the camera when you want to scan a printed QR code or a QR code shown on another device in real time.
- Use an image file when you want to inspect a QR code from a screenshot, attachment, or saved image.
Use Cases
- Quickly scanning QR codes with a phone or PC camera
- Checking the content of a QR code image someone sent you
- Checking decoded URLs or text before copying them into another task
- Verifying whether a QR code can be read correctly
Things to Keep in Mind
- Camera scanning requires camera permission in the browser
- Dark, blurry, or very small QR codes may fail to scan
- Decoded URLs are shown in the result field and are not opened automatically
- For image uploads, it is safest to use common image formats supported by the browser
Notes
If camera access was blocked earlier, you can usually re-enable it from the browser's site settings.
