What is Lorem Ipsum Generator?

Lorem Ipsum Generator is a tool to create dummy text for design mockups. It supports English (classic Lorem Ipsum) and Japanese, with two ways to control output: by paragraph count or by target character count. Adjust sentence and word variance to produce natural-looking placeholder text for different layout scenarios.

How to use

1. Choose a language: English or Japanese.
2. Select how to control length: "By paragraphs" or "By character count".
3. In paragraph mode, adjust paragraph count and sentences with the sliders.
4. In character mode, enter the desired character count.
5. In English mode, you can also adjust word count and the "Start with Lorem ipsum" option.
6. Click "Generate".
7. Check the generated text and statistics on the right.

Main settings

Language

Use the radio buttons to switch between the two languages.

• English: Generates classic Lorem Ipsum, the traditional Latin-style dummy text. Good for checking typography and spacing in English layouts.
• Japanese: Uses natural Japanese sentence templates to produce placeholder text. Useful for checking Japanese layout and fonts.

Length

Use the radio buttons to choose how the output length is determined.

• By paragraphs: Adjust paragraph count, sentences, and variance with sliders. Use this when you need fine control over text structure.
• By character count: Enter a target character count. Sentences are generated automatically until the count is reached, with the last sentence truncated at a word boundary. The output is a single block of text with no paragraph breaks.

In character mode, the paragraph, sentences, and variance sliders are hidden.

Paragraphs

Only shown in "By paragraphs" mode. Set the number of paragraphs from 1 to 20. Multiple paragraphs let you check spacing and line-height balance between blocks.

Sentences & variance

Only shown in "By paragraphs" mode. Set the central number of sentences per paragraph with "Sentences", and the up/down variation range with "Variance". For example, Sentences 5 and Variance 2 produces 3–7 sentences per paragraph. Set Variance to 0 for a fixed sentence count.

Words & variance

Set the central number of words per sentence with "Words", and the up/down variation range with "Variance". Set Variance to 0 for a fixed word count per sentence. This setting only appears in English mode.

Start with Lorem ipsum

Available only in English mode. When enabled, the first sentence always begins with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet". Use this when you want a consistent opening in design mockups or need to keep the traditional Lorem Ipsum format. In paragraph mode it applies to the first paragraph; in character mode it applies to the first sentence.

Result statistics

After generation, the following stats appear below the text:

• Paragraphs: Number of paragraphs generated. Shows 1 in character mode.
• Chars: Character count (including spaces, newlines, and punctuation).
• Words: Word count. Only shown in English mode.
• Sentences: Sentence count.

Notes

• Japanese sentences are generated from templates. Words are combined from predefined patterns, so the text has no real semantic meaning. It is intended purely as layout placeholder text.
• "Start with Lorem ipsum" is English-only. This option is hidden when Japanese is selected.
• Character mode produces a single block of text. If you need multiple paragraphs for layout testing, use paragraph mode instead.
